Girly Gifts...

I got out the sewing machine for the first time in weeks.... It was so fun to sew two gifts for an upcoming baby shower and birthday party. I made a Petal Skirt with appliqued top for the birthday gift and a dyed onsie with cute little skirt for the shower.
 Both tops are hand dyed and have appliques to match the skirt.
 The petal ruffle skirt was actually the bottom part of another piece of clothing that I had. I added an elastic waist and some applique to tie it all together.
 The shirt was a boys t... I tried to alter it a bit to make it more fitted and cute. {Full tutorial on that tomorrow!}

Wrapped and ready! Bring on the parties!

This is why I don't read...

Because when I do... I can't stop...
and I know these are books for teenagers... and no, I don't fall into that category...
But... all my new home projects are not getting done because I am reading...CROSSED... and loving it.
Have a good day... come again soon for some actual crafting news...

Fresh Tomato Bagels and Tasty Tuesday Party

Have you switched over your links to http://www.nap-timecreations.com/ {no more blogspot!}
 This is an easy favorite.
Take a plain bagel.. Spread on cream cheese (I use light)...
add cherry tomatoes (or any variety) and red onions.
Top off with a sprinkling of garlic salt.
YUM!!!
 Again... SO hard for me to choose my favorites, I think I had summer on the brain when I was choosing though...

DIY corner shelf {making space in a small kitchen}

 Living in a small apartment, I'm always on a mission to maximize every space. In my new kitchen I was looking to more storage, and I saw this little corner. It was actually my husbands idea, and I immediately thought it was great!
 I had the man at our little local "hardware" store (I'll have to show you pictures of this sometime) cut me a piece of wood to fit in the space. I made it just slightly smaller so I would be able to hang it.
 Painted my shelf to match...
 Use 3M hangers...
 And installed the shelf. This is great for places that you can't (or aren't allowed) to drill brackets into the wall.
 Look at all that space!

 I decided to put my cookbooks on this shelf...

Get excited for Felt {food}

Pin It
Again... we are moving, THIS week! Yikes...So.. I'm not really crafting, just getting REALLY excited for the next project when I have the time. My son is finally into a few other things besides cars and trains, so I am going to make him a bunch of felt food. We spend 6/7 weeks of the summer traveling in the US visiting family (we live the rest of the year in Hong Kong if you are new to my blog!). I figured felt food would be easy to make on the go, since its a hand project {mostly}. So, here's a bit of inspiration that has me gearing up to go!

Tomato & Artichoke with cheese dip...And Tasty Tuesday Party

first.... let me announce that I've dropped the blogspot and its now just nap-timecreations.com
SO, you can update if you like... you should be redirected here though even with the old address. Let me know if you have trouble accessing anything on the blog.
 You will Need:
1 1/2 cup shredded mozz cheese
1 can artichoke hearts (chopped)
1 1/2 cup diced cherry tomatoes
6 oz. cream cheese (reduced fat)
garlic salt, Italian seasoning, olive oil

Sautee the tomatos with salt and seasoning to taste in the olive oil (1/8 c.)  Cook for about 10 min. or until tomatoes are soft and can be squished. Mash up a bit with your spoon.
Add all the other ingredients and cook until melted together.
 Serve hot or room temperature. Both are great! I served with crackers, but would be delightful on bread too!

Quiet Book Page: Memory Game

If you've been reading for any length of time, you know that I have made many quiet books. I really enjoy making them for 2nd birthday gifts. Now some of the kids that I made books for have siblings turning two. Instead of making another book for the same family, I've been making a name page, with one new activity on the back for the sibling.
This is on the back of a girl name page for my friends daughter. I used the same idea as my matching game, only this was in miniature.I put the scratch velcro on the main page and the felt sticks right to it.
No match... try again!
