T-Shirt Quilt

I started this quilt LAST summer... We were home in the US for our summer visit and my in-laws were getting ready to move. We had to go through the boxes we store at their place and in them found A LOT of old t-shirts that my husband had packed away. In the spirit of trying to get RID of things, I volunteered to make a quilt out of the old shirts, so we could throw out that box. We went through them and I cut out the design from each one. When I actually sat down to make it this spring I realized that each one was a different size, so that was going to make for some interesting quilting (and I am NOT a quilter!)
I evened out the sides and squared each piece up.
I had some scraps from my backing, so where ever I needed to fill in a gap; I just used the same blue. You can see a few of these fillers in the quilt. I did lay it out like a puzzle, then just started sewing! Its definitely not perfect and would make expert quilters faint, but I was pleased with how it turned out and my husband loves it! It was his birthday yesterday, so I showed him the surprise...he didn't know I had been working on it lately. SO many fun memories for him. I'm sure this won't be the last t-shirt quilt I make in my life.

boys clothing

This week I've been working on gifts... Mothers Day and a few birthdays... so I can't share those yet. Last week I finished up a few boy project though. Shorts for my baby, and two pants for my sons friends. They will be turning 3 soon, and this is part of thier gift. (they don't read this blog, so I'm posting before I've given them!)
On another note, I volunteered to help make some costumes for the MS drama at my husbands school... just found out I am suppose to make 28 skirts and a few vests.. so you know what I will be working on the next couple of weeks! More to come on this project later, I'm sure.

Baby Carrier Chew Pads

I didn't take pictures as I went, but here's the general idea...
 More pictures and views.
Velcro right onto your carrier. Now your little one can chew and suck to his/her hearts content and you can easily wash it off! This is especially helpful as my little guy like to puke!
 Yum!!!

Sleeping bag for kids-tutorial (SUPER EASY!)

We are headed camping next weekend and little one needed a sleeping bag. I checked out my fabric selection and found a piece of fleece (that rhythms!) that was big enough. I think it was about a yard and a half. I laid it out folded in half (hot dog style) then cut across the TOP layer only about a foot from the top. This is to create a built in pillow.
I put a wad of stuffing in the middle of this top portion and pinned around it.
Create a pillow in the middle of the top flap.
All pinned and ready to sew! Sew around the pillow part and around the outside of the fabric to hold down the two pieces. Then I sewed around the outside of the entire bag, leaving a flap open on one side for getting in and out, or for air if it is too warm.
 The Finished Bag!
The final step. Fold the two sides of the bag over the pillow on the top end, then roll to the bottom. From here you can see where to attach two elastic bands. Sew them on along the bottom seam and you can now roll the bag and store it!
Handy! And my son loves it!!!

Boys Summer PJ's

Perfect for eating popcorn before bed...
"Fake" sleeping...
Jumping on the bed...
Eating your morning smoothie (with hidden veggies!)...
Tickle sessions with Dad...
I made three shirts, two shorts, and one pair of drawstring pants. He should be set for the summer. This was my first drawstring attempt...It turned out pretty good except for a not so great button hole opening! Don't look too close...
The Car and the Moon/Stars are fabric paint, I've got a huge roll of freezer paper to use up!

Easter Bunting

My Weekend project:
Easter Bunting!
Its a bit hard to read in the pictures (in real life too), but it says He IS  Risen. I should have outlined the green checked letters with a darker color... next time...

In the reflection you can see our messy craft table. I was doing a collage with my two year old. He was REALLY into the glue!

Circle Skirt and shirt

I really wish I had a little girl model to show you this outfit, but instead I took pictures on the floor! I'm sending this to my niece for her birthday, it goes with the hair flower I showed off earlier. I'll have to get some pictures of her wearing it to add to this post later!
I loved making this circle skirt! I seriously need some fabric to make one for myself. SO easy and looks great.
I did a quick applique on a shirt I had to complete the outfit.
Happy Birthday to mu niece!

Boy Outfits (flat front pants)

I've been wanted to try this tutorial by MADE for a long time. She shows how to make a flat front boys pant. I ended up making matching pants for my boys, LOVE how they turned out!
These pants were SO easy to make, I have a few more in the works already. I also added a yellow pocket to give the pants more color (like they really needed it!). I used another MADE tutorial for the basic idea.

Aren't they adorable? (Both the pants and BOYs!)
The pants went so fast I was able to whip up matching shirts to complete the outfit.I had bouhgt the blue t-shirt last summer on sale. $4 for a XXL and was able to get both shirts out of the one large one. So these outfits cost about $3 each. Pretty good deal!
