No-Sugar-WholeWheat-Sugar-cookies :o) Day #1

Happy December! Welcome to Nap-Time Creations' Delightful December! Everyday until Christmas I will post a family tradition or activity that may give you inspiration for your own holiday celebration.
#1: Cookies... can they be healthy(sort of).... yes!

I didn't really do anything drastic to make healthy cookies. I used my favorite sugar-cookie recipe (thanks Susan!) and replaced the flour with Whole Wheat flour and put a bit of honey in for sweetener. I must admit, without frosting they taste more like biscuits...But, Jack likes them both ways, with or without the frosting. I did put frosting on them so when we are eating our cookies, they look the same. You can see the difference though in the dark color of the flour. I've included the recipe at the bottom. Enjoy!
Healthier ones...

And of course I made loads of the "real" ones as well :o)
yum!
Healthier Sugar cookies...
3/4 c. Shortening (1/2 c. crisco, 1/4 c. butter)-this part not so healthy :o)
1/4 c. honey
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
3 c. whole wheat flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. milk
Mix the shortening and honey until creamy, add egg and vanilla. Mix flour and baking powder together in a separate bowl. Add to the butter mix, alternating with the milk. Chill for several hours or overnight wrapped in plastic wrap. Roll, cut and bake! use 350 for 10 min. I also always roll out on baking paper and put the paper right on the cookie sheet for cooking. I spent years rolling cookies and trying to peel them off the counter to put in the oven. The baking paper saves tons of time and you can use it over and over.
